Skin texture. Firstly, what causes skin texture? There are many causes, they are; enlarged oil glands, enlarged pores, and comedones.
So, how do you treat them, and what ingredients are the best to do so?
Essentially, you want to increase skin cell turnover and bring new skin cells to the surface of the skin. So, exfoliating the skin will be key here and using a retinol.
There are different types of exfoliants, but we would recommend using a chemical exfoliant or enzyme exfoliant. The ingredients here would be salicylic acid (particularly for comedones), alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as glycolic acid and lactic acid, and poly hydroxy acids (PHAs) such as gluconolactone. These chemical exfoliants will exfoliate the skin evenly by shedding dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to promote new skin cells to improve the skin texture and reduce the build of dead skin cells which contribute to uneven texture concerns. We recommend only exfoliating 2-3 times a week.
Another great ingredient is retinol which will increase skin cell turnover to help reduce the build-up of dead skin cells.
We have different product options for uneven texture, check them out here.
