Routines

A guide on how to establish a proper skincare routine and the correct order of application.

When developing a skincare routine, it’s crucial to determine your skincare objectives and any potential issues you want to tackle, and then match them to your skin type. Once you have a clear understanding of this, you can begin looking for products that contain the appropriate active ingredients to achieve your goal. Then, you can sort the products according to the order in which they should be applied to get the best results for your skin.

It is important to understand which ingredients are best suited for your skin concerns. Our suggestion is to create a simple yet effective skincare routine, as more products don’t necessarily mean better results. Additionally, it is crucial to incorporate antioxidants into your routine. Antioxidants work to safeguard your skin against free radical damage and are fantastic for promoting healthier and brighter skin. To support the health of your skin barrier, we also recommend using skin-replenishing ingredients. If your skin barrier is damaged, it can lead to a variety of issues such as acne, dull skin, and accelerated signs of aging.

How to apply each product of a skincare routine

The first step in any skincare routine is using a cleanser to remove excess oil, dirt, impurities, makeup, and sunscreen. We recommend cleansing twice a day, both in the morning and evening.

The second step is broad and allows for creativity. This step includes toners, serums, spot treatments, and other products. Depending on your skincare goals, you can use various products.

When using multiple products, start with the lightest in terms of product texture and work your way to the thickest to get the best results from your “treatment” products.

For example, a toner would be applied first, followed by a serum and spot treatment. Remember, always check the consistency of each product.

This step requires being purposeful with active ingredients to address specific skincare goals and concerns.

The third step involves using a moisturizer and sunscreen.

Moisturizing is essential, as neglecting it can lead to dry skin, acne, fine lines, wrinkles, and dullness.

A moisturizer helps prevent dehydration and contributes to healthy and radiant skin. Look for a moisturizer with skin-replenishing and softening ingredients to achieve soft and smooth skin.

Sunscreen is also crucial and not only protects against skin cancer but is also the number one anti-aging advice. Thankfully many sunscreens include beneficial ingredients, such as niacinamide, that help with acne, moisturizing, and anti-aging concerns.
