Wrinkles are a part of aging, and some wrinkles will develop that are unavoidable, yet there are some that you can get rid of and make less noticeable; also there are some you can avoid if you start young with a good anti-aging routine.
Tips for wrinkles
Tip 1: Sunscreen
The sun is one of the biggest factors contributing to aging, UV radiation damages collagen bundles. That is why it is also suggested to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen which will protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays as well as using a sunscreen with at least SPF 30+ but we would recommend a sunscreen with SPF 50+.
It is said that the best anti-aging advice is to wear sunscreen every day, and if you are concerned with anti-aging and wrinkles then you must do so. The reason is because of how the different UV rays work, UVA rays are the “aging” causing rays while UVB rays are the “cancer” causing rays. UVB rays are blocked by window glass while UVA rays are not, so when you are driving in your car or at work and the sun is directly in contact with your face then the UVA rays are affecting your skin and causing sun damage leading to aging concerns such as hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.
Tip 2: Avoid tanning beds
Most of the UV radiation from tanning beds is UVA which will cause immediate and temporary pigment darkening while UVB causes more permanent darkening and increases the risk of skin cancer. So, you end up getting a temporary tan with an increased risk of aging. Also, avoid tanning beds to decrease your risk for skin cancer.
Tip 3: Build collagen
As we age, we lose collagen and collagen is an abundant protein that is inside the dermis and gives the dermis volume so increasing collagen production will minimise the appearance of aging. The best ingredient for this is retinol/ retinoid, they also increase the hyaluronic acid in the dermis which increases volume, be sure to check out our Skin renewing retinol serum which has both retinol, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide (an antioxidant and can increase collagen also).
Other ingredients can build collagen and they include;
- Vitamin C
- Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
And then some procedures can build collagen and they include;
- Microneedling
- Lasers
Tip 4: Fillers
You can get dermafillers that fills a space and adds volume; be sure to check with your dermatologist if this is an option you would consider.
Tip 5: Moisturize
Dry skin is more prone to fine lines and wrinkles. Use moisturizing and hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin. And drinking more water can help.
